The white light of the sun melted reality and all became transparent that day.I watched and saw.
Two grown men shouting and waving clenched fists at each other over an empty space between two cars that each claimed as his own.
Everyone handing each other pieces of paper and metal in exchange for food, clothes and completely useless things they would eventually throw away. They tore their hair out over those pieces of paper and metal. Unable to understand why others got to have stacks of them while they had none.
I watched and saw.
Everyone staring bug-eyed at black slabs of glass. They talked into them and pointed them at themselves while posing with idiotic grins. Swiping and clicking over and over again.
Everyone was me.
And I was everyone.
We’re all mad. I thought, Lunatics.
I heard the most joyful laughter behind me. I turned and saw a small one shooting through the air, back and forth on a swing squealing with absolute delight.
Maybe we’re not all mad.
