The Tale Behind the Shirt

   Jerry traced the outline of the cloud with his paintbrush and a brilliant silver halo surrounded its fluffy edges. He was about to send it off into the sky when…
   “Whoah, whaddya doing?” asked Richie
   “Whaddya mean what am I doing? I’m putting the silver linings on the clouds.”
   “Didn’t ya read the memo? You didn’t read the memo from the boss didja? Well don’t send that cloud out like that. The boss wants us to cut down on the silver in the silver linings, says just put a bit of silver on the bottom.”
   “What, like this?” Jerry erased the halo and once again dabbed his paintbrush at the cloud. A thin wisp of silver appeared at its base.
   They both stared at the cloud.
   “Well, that’s not much of a silver lining is it?” Jerry commented.
   “That’s what the boss wants,” said Ritchie, “says these days people are happy enough with even the faintest glimmer of hope.”
   Jerry sent the cloud out into the sky and watched it get smaller and smaller until Ritchie called him.
   “Hey Jerry, new memo from the boss. It's about rainbows…”
